Dear Diary,
Couldn't face the world this morning so I just pulled the covers back over my head; for 5 minutes, before I came to my senses and stumbled downstairs, almost head first as I trip over the cat on the stairs. The caffeine in the coffee allows me to open my eyes and perform a few simple mental functions. Found my mobile under some cushions with quite a few unanswered messages from Will. Put it back under the cushions and buttered my burnt bread.
Suitably awake I headed into work only to find that Will had also sent me a number of emails. I wondered if I should forward them to my contacts list or dump them. I erred on the side of sanity and put them in the trash. As per usual my inbox was bulging at the edges, shame my head was empty at this point. Picked a piece at random and gave it my utmost 15 percent.
Had to visit the pits of hell (archives) to reference something later in the morning, much to my annoyance. The Head of Archives is far too polite and is really starting to worry me. I think he hates me. Usual conversation,
Him: "Morning Mrs Dews, how are you today?"
Me: "Fine, I'd like number 564 please."
Him: "Of course, how's life upstairs?"
Me: "Fine."
Him: "Right."
Me: "-"
I just nod and take the file at this point. He really must have something against me.
Someone reminded me that there's 5 days to the office party. I could have hit them. Our establishment is hell bent on promoting team-building and group activities, office parties are a more dubious extension of this. The only thing I've found they promote is promiscuous sex and numerous obvious hangovers the next day.
Finished work (somehow having managed to avoid Will) and returned home to find that the cat had eaten half my chair as I'd forgotten to feed it. Felt extremely guilty so I gave it two cans of cat food and watched it glower at me for a whole hour. Realised I was looking enviously at the cats dish and found myself a cheese and ham sandwich. And a chocolate bar. Two actually. I really must start that diet soon. In fact I'll start tomorrow.
