Dear Diary,

day three of the diet, promised I'd make a special effort today. Then went and ate frosties for breakfast, at least it was only a minor offence. I'd make up for it later.Fed the cat some Whiskas and headed off to work not needing my usual coffee.
My air of good feeling was only dented by the sight of Julia on the main desk using a smile like a Cheshire cat. Smug wasn't the word. She obviously hasn't got to know Will very well yet.
Made a very good job of looking busy in the morning by rearranging the papers on my desk repeatedly. Eventually had to do some real work as I realised my inbox was starting pose a threat to the stability of my desk. Drudged through a few pieces before dinner.
Went looking for Johnathan only to be told by the archives department that he was on a business trip and wouldn't be back until tomorrow. No! how could this be! I'd just met him, was starting to get to like him and I couldn't even talk to him. Tried his mobile but it was switched off as I expected. I hate it when that happens. How could he do this to me? Ate a reasonably healthy lettuce and ham sandwich. Took out the lettuce though.
Spent the afternoon pining and writing a long email to him that managed to spread the question 'when can I see you next?' over approximately five pages. This ordeal left me emotionally and physically drained so I bought myself a bar of chocolate as I exited the building from the rear to avoid Julia's shining white molars. Screw the diet I thought.
Returned home to seek solace in the company of my cat who as usual had about as much sympathy as a member of the Spanish Inquistion. Was better than nothing though. Ate soup and another chocolate bar before letting evening TV do its work and lull me into a deep sleep.
